Self Portraits

I thought is was a really cute idea. On the first day of school have the kids draw a picture of themselves. Do not have them put their names on the front of the pictures. Once they give you the picture you can number the pictures and hang them up. Later in the week the kids can try and guess what picture goes with what student.


This is another good ice breaker activity. Please share any you have or like to use with your students.

Getting to know each other

When all the kids start school they are nervous and excited. I like to do a poster for the kids to learn all about me (as a teacher). Then each week a new student can share about themselves. Here is an example if a All about me board.

Bulletin board ideas

If you have a bulletin board and don't know what to do with it you can keep with a fun cup cake board. I also thought it would be cute to use ice cream cones. They remind me more of summer. The kids could decorate or make their own cupcake.
